University IT Research Board
Universities are unique, in that they face many of the same magnitude of IT challenges as other large enterprises, but generally very different problems, budgetary constraints, and reporting structures. Issues such as student record confidentiality, distance learning, and student/faculty communication provide unique challenges to university CIOs.
Description
Experture analysts develop deep understanding of each university’s IT environment and challenges and proceed to match university CIOs with similar issues. Inter-university alliances have become more commonplace in recent years, and this forum often serves be an environment to foster this.
Deliverables
Standard
Experture understands the most important problems facing a university’s IT department. As a result, we have developed a number of features within our University IT offering to address these needs:
-
Experture has developed questionnaires to asses the most important problems facing a university. Based on this, Experture matches a CIO with a like CIO, facing, or having faced similar issues. We match clients with other universities, facilitate initial contact, and assure each party’s needs are being met. This will be an ongoing effort, to provide the most valuable service.
-
Many Experture staff members have extensive experience in the academic environment. Yearly, a member of our staff comes to your university (travel expense client paid) and deliver our expertise in your environment. Clients may choose a classroom presentation to students, a workshop with administrators, a forum with faculty members, or any other venue negotiated with our staff member.
-
Experture is developing the “University Board”. A group of 50 CIOs from universities across the country. The board will provide a forum for CIOs to discuss issues, and will facilitate events, and discussions.
-
Experture’s web site will provide a destination for facilitated discussion of important issues. Experture subject matter experts will lend their knowledge, and CIOs who have experience with particular issues share their experiences.
Optional
Experture analysts are available to provide insight into problems uncovered, other points of reference, and potentially available Experture research.
Target audience
